“Zara” a name which is familiar to many around the globe for it’s clothing line & accessories, became the news of the week when Forbes reported on Tuesday that it’s founder Amancio Ortega replaced Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos to be the second richest person in the world when amazon’s stock started falling from last Thursday. As per the report Forbes estimated Ortega’s net worth to be $85.5 billion, compared to Bezos’ estimated net worth of $84.6 billion as on Tuesday afternoon.
We never heard much about Ortega & his extensive wealth, when Jeff Bezos & Bill Gates ruled the cover page with their public appearances & innovations.
“Zara” is a well known fashion giant which owns by Inditex Fashion Group founded by Ortega with his first wife Rosalía Mera in 1975, which has now a vast chain of 7300 outposts around the world & one of the favourite brand to many people including The Duchess of Cambridge who often photographed in its clothing line.
Being the second richest person in the world, he is rarely seen in public or giving interviews. In 2013, Rosalía Mera the co founder of “Zara” and his first wife died at the age of 69. She was the richest person in Spain. Now Ortega lives with his second wife Flora in La Coruña, Spain. His elder daughter Sandra Ortega Mera is a Spanish billionaire heiress.
Apart from his huge wealth he owns one of the tallest skyscrapers in Spain, The Torre Picasso in Madrid. He also bought one of the best luxury hotels in USA , The Epic Residences & Hotel,Miami.
For his daily work he drives the Audi A8 Luxury Sedan & for flying he got a Global Express BD-700, a private jet worth of 45$ million.
Being the emperor of the rising fashion industry , he spends his time raising goats and chickens on the weekends at his country home in the Spanish province of Galicia.
