Who doesn’t know Elon Musk, the man behind the future technology & his ambition that humans can escape Earth & Colonized Mars.
He is “Tony Stark” of real life making revolutions & bringing new possibilities in every aspect between space rockets, electric cars, solar batteries, research into killer robots.
Elon’s story is bit out of the track & that’s what made him a $16 billion worth of guy.
Starting from 1971 when he was born in Pretoria, South Africa, Elon was a solitary thinker & love for books was his passion. In 1979, when their parents divorced, Musk and his younger brother Kimbal decided to live with his father.
His school days were not how we did in our time. Elon mentioned once in his book “Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future,” he was once hospitalised when a group of bullies threw him down the stairs and beat him until he blacked out.
Musk moved to Canada for higher studies, joined Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario & University of Pennsylvania grabbing one degree each in Physics & Economics.
His first $ 500 came when he a sold a game called Blaster to a Computer Magazine & his next venture was opening a unofficial night club with his college pal Andeo Ressi renting 10-bedroom house while both were studying in University of Pennsylvania.
The next venture was a tough way but paid both brothers well. Musk & Kimbal got a finance from their dad of $ 28,000 to open a city travel guides to newspapers like the New York Times and Chicago Tribune and the days were very tough for both but it ended up soon when Compaq bought Zip2 for $341 million in cash & stock from where Musk earned his first $22 millions.
He was also one of the first investor of PayPal, things didn’t work out as planned with the other cofounders & he was fired from PayPal in 2002 but as the single biggest shareholder in PayPal, his $10 million investment gained him $165 million of valuation in company which was paid by eBay in late 2002.
After PayPal, finally he launched Space Exploration Technologies, or SpaceX with an aim to make spaceflights cheaper & more cost effective. Falcon 1 & 9 rockets were the first vehicles & SpaceX Dragon Spacecraft the third one was named by Elon to reply those people who said it’s not possible. In the year 2008 SpaceX landed a $1.5 billion contract with NASA to deliver supplies into space.
By 2010 things changed for him when Tesla held a $226 million IPO – the first car company to go public since Ford in 1956. Musk sold shares worth about $15 million to cover his personal finances.
Now his new project he is working “Tesla Motors” to produce Electronic Cars & the newly launched Model 3 became the talk in the automotive industry. where Model 3already received 5000,000 pre orders. Tesla’s “Autopilot” self-driving car capabilities, which is a big focus for the company to go forward.
Running SpaceX, Tesla, and SolarCity, Musk actually went broke. He says 2008 as “the worst year of my life,” as Tesla kept losing money and SpaceX was having trouble launching its Falcon 1 rocket.
Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Tony Stark in the “Iron Man” movies makes us remember of Elon Musk, and the Elon even has a cameo in “Iron Man 2.”
Best wishes for the Model 3 to Elon Musk & his team.
The generation is waiting for your innovations & ideas which can give our world a new shape.
