When OS giant Microsoft was going through their toughest time it was Satya Nadella, who’s vision made him Microsoft’s CEO in February, 2014 with the support of Bill Gates & Steve Ballmer to bring the company back on track after Windows 8 failed to excite tech lovers around the world.
Nadella’s first year’s package was close to $84 million.
It was the same time when iPhone & Android were bounced back & Windows was a big flop in the phone industry. Bing was also not able to left Google behind because of its dominance on world wide web.
Nadella Was the only choice left when rumoured spread that Google’s Pichai was also on the list but he was happy with Google’s pay scale.
He joined Google in 1992 when the company was planning for worldwide expansion.
Microsoft’s ill-fated interactive-TV product and the Windows NT operating system was his first few projects after joining the organisation.
His first few years Nadella started showing his leadership qualities by commuting every weekend from Microsoft’s campus in Redmond, Washington. His first big achievement was to grab the role Vice President of Microsoft bCentral, a software suite & services for small businesses that included hosted website-hosting and email.
In the year 2001 company designated him as Corporate Vice President of Microsoft’s Business Solutions and he got the opportunity of leading few of the acquired company by Google including Great Plains, An accounting software for small & midsize business.
After completing 15 years in Microsoft, he bagged the biggest deal of being the Senior Vice President of Microsoft Online Services where he was in charge of Bing Search Engine, Microsoft Office & Xbox Live gaming services.
He was promoted as the President of Server & Tools Division February 2011 & the revenue raised up from 16.6 billion to $ 20.3 billion, which was a big achievement for his career.
After Ballmer stepped down as the CEO, Nadella is the man who is making sure till date that all the strings attached under his roof.
Nadella sent an email to employees when he first took the job:
He said: “I am 46. I’ve been married for 22 years and we have 3 kids. And like anyone else, a lot of what I do and how I think has been shaped by my family and my overall life experiences. Many who know me say I am also defined by my curiosity and thirst for learning. I buy more books than I can finish. I sign up for more online courses than I can complete. I fundamentally believe that if you are not learning new things, you stop doing great and useful things. So family, curiosity and hunger for knowledge all define me. “
His key strategies made him the face of Microsoft starting about his quality of making people & team close & it only happened when he reversed the way of work from making big changes in every area of the company & exploring new ways to get back the old clients.
Under his leadership, Microsoft’s left behind Linux OS with Azure Cloud. Today we are able to use Microsoft Office in iOS because of this great mind even in 2015, Nadella used an iPhone on stage to show off his favourite Microsoft apps.
Coming with a bang “Windows 10” helped him to cross another millstone & day after the biggest announcement came with the launch of Microsoft’s Surface Book, Microsoft’s first laptop.
His first job was with Sun Microsystems one of the most popular computer server company in Silicon Valley. After completing his Electrical Engineering, he landed in1990 United States and joined University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from where he graduated in 1990 & finished his MBA from Chicago’s Booth School.
In his early life his passion was of playing cricket like all young Indians but he was interested of building something & today he is one of the best CEO we ever saw.
